Belgium started this World Cup slowly, but they got better and better, and their run ended in the quarter-finals.

In Group G they drew 1-1 with Egypt and 0-0 with Iran, so it was a quiet start, to say the least.

But then it all came together, with a big 5-1 win over New Zealand that won them the group.

Then came the game of the tournament, their round of 32 tie with Senegal.

Belgium were losing 2-0 with 40 minutes left, but they scored 3 late goals to win it 3-2 after extra time.

It was one of the biggest comebacks in World Cup history, and it showed how much this team can fight and face adversity.

To confirm their form they knocked out the United States 4-1 to stop the good run of this World Cup co-hosts.

Their attacking midfielder Charles De Ketelaere was the star, scoring twice to put Belgium in control.

To win 4-1 away against the host nation is exactly what a serious team does.

Around him there is real class too, from striker Romelu Lukaku to midfielder Youri Tielemans.

In the quarter-final they pushed Spain all the way, and Charles De Ketelaere scored to make it 1-1.

But unfortunately a late goal from Spain's midfielder Mikel Merino sent Spain through to the next stage and knocked Belgium out.

From a slow start, they grew into one of the toughest teams to beat, and they can be proud of that.
