How the match went

For most of this game, it was Japan, not Brazil, who looked like winning.

Brazil's Casemiro gave the ball away, and Japan's Sano scored to make it 1-0 to Japan.

So Japan led 1-0 at half-time, and Brazil had work to do.

Then Casemiro made up for his mistake.

He scored with a header in the 56th minute to make it 1-1.

After that both teams went for the winner, and it looked like extra time was coming.

But in the very last minute, deep in stoppage time, Brazil scored the winner.

Bruno Guimaraes set it up, and Martinelli scored a great goal to make it 2-1.

There was no time left for Japan to reply, so Brazil won it before extra time.

It is a hard way for Japan to go out, after leading for so long.

Brazil are through to the round of 16, and the dream of a 6th title is still alive.

Brazil struggled to win this one, but it shows they are ready to fight for the trophy.

They will need to tighten things up and play better, though, if they want to go further.

It is a cruel way to go, because they led the 5-time champions for most of the game.

Still, they took Brazil all the way and can be proud of a brave World Cup run.
